“The Streets of Philadelphia” came to Melbourne, when the teams at Excite Holidays and Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau combined to launch their latest guide “Philadelphia: History, Hip & Handy”

On Wednesday 3rd July, 35 travel agents joined Excite Holidays’ Business Development Managers (Paul Groundwater and Jacqui Shelly), as well as Penny Brand from Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau at Moon Dog Brewery in Abbotsford, to celebrate everything that makes Philly so fabulous.

History, Hip, Handy and HUNGRY! As well as a practical introduction to all the amazing offerings of this East Coast City, agents kicked the evening off with foodie favourites such as Philly Cheesesteaks, buffalo wings, jalapeno poppers, fries, and house-made onion rings.

Booze from the craft beer tasting table (and delicious espresso martinis on tap) also flowed freely all night.

Then, from drinks to dancing, the music menu featured a DJ spinning floor-filling tunes – including tracks from the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air – turning the event into a party that would have made Philly’s favourite rapper smile.

The festivities were given a special 4th of July spin, with the room decked out in American flags, streamers and balloons. And for an extra “twist” there was even a pretzel bagel station for agents to take home in their goodie bag!

Yep, Bruce “Born in the USA” Springsteen would have been proud!
