Ever wondered what it takes to raise the bar for an already amazing hotel? Recently, Tokoriki Island Resort did just that, announcing a star rating upgrade.

While Tokoriki Island Resort has an illustriously awarded heritage (deep breath … it is a multiple TripAdvisor winner; the only property in Fiji to make the highly-coveted ‘top 100’ list by readers of Condé Nast Traveller UK in the 2018 Readers’ Travel Awards; and Luxury Travel Magazine’s current ‘Best Overseas Luxury Romantic & Boutique Property’) it took a little extra TLC to get it to five-star standards.

Exactly what? Well over the past three years, Tokoriki Island Resort has completed a multi-million dollar refurbishment that incorporates: a state-of-the-art kitchen; a 45 metre jetty complete with private helipad; poolside butler service and new sun loungers for the pool; and a spa extension designed to cater to the increasing popularity of the resort’s unique ‘unlimited massage retreat’ offering.

For late-departure guests, the resort also added two new Courtesy Bures complete with double outdoor showers and changing facilities set amongst lush tropical gardens. This means guests can store their luggage in a secure, dedicated luggage room, enjoy the resort’s facilities during the day, and then freshen up in a Courtesy Bure prior to departure with the resort’s compliments.

The resort’s most popular room category – the Beachfront Pool Bure – was also bolstered from 14 to 18, bringing its total inventory to 8 Beachfront Bures, 18 Beachfront Pool Bures and 10 Beachfront Pool Villas.

“We believe we’ve always been five-star in terms of service, food, and location” said general manager Robert Ring.

“Recent changes have improved the quality of the resort considerably, which in turn has rewarded us with this opportunity to elevate our star rating”.
